Irwin "Wito" Rodríguez nació en Chicago de padres puertorriqueños y tuvo sus inicios en el campo musical como cantante y músico. Durante su adolescencia, actuó con una banda de Rock and Roll como guitarrista. En 1968 Wito decidió mudarse a "La Isla Del Encanto", Puerto Rico, con el fin de buscar sus raíces musicales y experimentar los sonidos picantes de su amado ritmo latino. Su primer encuentro en el género de la salsa fue con un percusionista puertorriqueño de los años 60 llamado "Chacón y Su Orquesta", donde Wito aprendió todos los ritmos latinos como el Guaguancó, Boogaloo, Mozambique, etc. Chacón fue su entrenador en instrumentos de percusión latina y Wito también se enamoró de las maracas. Wito regresó a Chicago en 1971 para unirse a la "Orquesta La Justicia", una banda local que abrió espectáculos para artistas como Ismael Rivera, Ray Barreto, Willie Colón, El Gran Combo y la legendaria "Fania All-Stars". Como muchos jóvenes de la época, en 1973 decidió unirse al Ejército de los Estados Unidos y fue enviado a Europa. Durante su estancia en Alemania Wito tuvo clases de canto con la cantante de ópera Barbra Sutton, y al mismo tiempo creó dos bandas con los nombres de "El Conjunto Sabor" y "La Sonora Antillana". Estas orquestas acompañaron a artistas del campo de la salsa como Adalberto Santiago, Ismael Miranda, Tito Allen, Santitos Colón, Pete "El Conde" Rodríguez y la Reina de la Salsa, Celia Cruz. Después de su baja del ejército, Wito unió fuerzas con el director de orquesta alemán Rudi Fuesers y dio a luz a la orquesta de salsa de Europa "Conexión Latina". Con Conexión Latina, Wito grabó dos álbumes; "Calorcito" y "Un Poco Loco". También tuvo la gran experiencia de grabar dos canciones con el líder de la Big Band y arreglista Peter Herbolzheimer. A finales de los años 80, Wito quería ampliar sus horizontes formando sus propios grupos llamados "Wito Rodríguez y Orquesta" y "Wito Con Cache". Extrañando a su familia y amigos, Wito "cruzó el charco" para regresar a los Estados Unidos y terminar su carrera en el Ejército. Nunca dejó su pasión por la música, un nuevo sonido de big band estaba en su mente, y una vez más regresa al centro de atención con Wito Rodriguez Salsa Jazz Orchestra bajo la guía y dirección musical del trompetista y arreglista, Gino Picart. “What a Wonderful World” or “Que Mundo Maravilloso” is his third album released on January 2015. Although keeping busy in 2016 with live performances, a new album had also been produced and recorded between Venezuela South America and Orlando, Florida. The latest production named “Como el Viento” will be released in 2017. This album contains a compilation of songs recorded over the years in Europe that never made it to the western hemisphere. En 2018, Wito lanzó otro CD llamado "The Best of Wito" que tiene una mezcla de todas las canciones que a los fanáticos parecían gustarles más y honraban sus preferencias. Wito también tiene cuatro nuevos singles que ha lanzado de su nuevo álbum que estará disponible a finales de febrero de 2019. En 2021 otro cd llamado  Reload.. Recargando como es la vida de Wito Rodriguez siempre recargando con nueva musica. Y en 2022 se fue con los cover  songs de Lou Rawls y John Lennon pero con su priopio estilo  en salsa y con sabor latino! Imagine y You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine y Mujer Prohibida para sus salsa lovers. Desde 2022 se mudo de la Florida a Pennsylvania y se retiro de su musica pero en ese tiempo penso esperante dejame hacer algo nuevo y empieso con su disquera NMJ Animal Music Records LLC  en 2023 para darle opportunida a otros artistas con su ayuda con produciones y dinero para grabar y hacer videos musicales de differentes generos y paises . Y hace eso y tiene en 2024 differentes artistas unos se quedan y otros se van pero el no deja de seguir con sus suenos para ellos!

Wito Rodriguez biography

Irwin "Wito" Rodríguez was born in Chicago to Puerto Rican parents and began his musical journey as a singer and musician. During his teenage years, he performed with a Rock and Roll band as a guitarist. In 1968, Wito decided to move to "La Isla Del Encanto," Puerto Rico, in search of his musical roots and to experience the spicy sounds of his beloved Latin rhythm. His first encounter with salsa music was with a Puerto Rican percussionist from the 1960s named "Chacón y Su Orquesta," where Wito learned all the Latin rhythms such as Guaguancó, Boogaloo, Mozambique, etc. Chacón mentored him in Latin percussion instruments, and Wito also fell in love with the maracas. Wito returned to Chicago in 1971 to join "Orquesta La Justicia," a local band that opened shows for artists like Ismael Rivera, Ray Barreto, Willie Colón, El Gran Combo, and the legendary "Fania All-Stars." Like many young people of the time, in 1973, he decided to join the United States Army and was sent to Europe. In 2021, another CD called "Reload.. Recargando" as Wito Rodriguez's life is always recharging with new music. And in 2022, he went with the cover songs of Lou Rawls and John Lennon but with his style in salsa and with a Latin flavor! "Imagine," "You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine," and "Mujer Prohibida" for his salsa lovers. In 2022, he moved from Florida to Pennsylvania and retired from his music but during that time he thought, wait, let me do something new and started his record label NMJ Animal Music Records LLC in 2023 to give opportunities to other artists with his help with productions and money to record and make music videos of different genres and countries. And he does that and has in 2024 different artists, some stay, and some go, but he never stops pursuing his dreams for them! In 2024, he is doing interviews for himself and his artists and looking to bring them to events worldwide according to the law for each country.
